£35 million more from Culture Recovery Fund benefits few arts spaces

The announcement of more money from the Culture Recovery Fund is as welcome as it is overdue.

Amongst a range of benefitting venues, the ones which most interest theatre folk are

Morecambe Winter Gardens which receives £209,000 will undoubtedly welcome this boost along their long road to restoration, although with w thriving supporters group and events they are staging, it is great to see life returning to this mixed-used venue with its huge, richly-decorated auditorium.

The Electric Cinema in Harwich which receives £151,000 which has earmarked some of the funding to be spent on improving flooring which had attracted damp previously.

The Moseley Road Baths in Birmingham, which receives £1000,000, is undergoing extensive refurbishment as a community swimming centre, alongside reinvention as an arts centre with theatre space inside a richly-decorated and much-loved building.
